Special Volunteer Opportunity
On April 19, 2013, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital held its 3rd annual Pediatric Prom for teen patients who miss their own proms due to hospitalization or intensive treatment. The teens attending this special Prom include current inpatients, outpatients receiving on-going treatment, and “graduates” who have successfully completed their program of treatment in the last year. [We will be posting new photos soon.]
Thank you to UCSF Partners in Care members and friends who supported the Prom by volunteering their time and contributing funds in the following ways:
- Infusion young professionals committee held a special event on April 4 at Stock in Trade to collect new and unused Accessories for the teens attending the Prom. Event Chair, Regina Verna, organized the event to gather donated purses, ties, shoes, teen-appropriate bling (jewelry) as well as cash donations from supportive volunteers to help make the Prom picture perfect.
- 12 wonderful Volunteers gathered to create 60 corsages and 40 boutonnieres on Thursday evening, April 18. The flowers were delivered to the hospital by noon on Friday in time for the teens to select and wear the flowers and colors of their choice.
Thank you to all who participated or contributed to this heartwarming volunteer effort.
In some small way we helped dress up spirits and festive attire for these brave teens.
Together, we helped make the prom a night of magical memories!
