Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is the leading cause of death in infants 1-4 months of age, and prematurity is a known factor in increasing the risk of SIDS. The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends the use of specialized sleepwear, such as the HALO brand ‘sleep sack,’ as a way to decrease the risk of SIDS.
Sleep sacks retail for $25 each. UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital cares for all children who seek help. Many of these families are low-income, homeless and underinsured. They can’t afford to buy this possibly life-saving solution.
That is where you can help: Through a designated tax deductible donation to UCSF Partners in Care, YOU can make a difference – – and perhaps save an infant’s life!
For only $10, you can help decrease the risk of SIDS for these sweet babies as they make their way home from the UCSF Intensive Care Nursery (ICN). Through our GoFundMe Campaign, we are hoping to raise $8,000 in order to provide sleep sacks for every one of the 800 ICN babies this year.
UCSF PIC raises funds and provides high impact grants for patient care and family services at UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Join us in securing safe sleep!
